3 Direct Sales Meeting Training Themes

August 12th, 2008 . by Deb Bixler

Create Exciting Meetings With Themes

One of the best ways to keep up the attendance at your direct sales consultants’ meetings is to have fun and exciting team training meetings. Creating team theme meetings will keep your team guessing as to what is coming next.

Chickens and Stars: A week or so before the team training, send a postcard or email and do a phone call, telling everyone to bring a can of Chicken And Stars soup. No other explanation is necessary. You are creating an aura of intrigue. “What is she up to now?!” Then at the meeting, have a segment on networking, phone calls or anything you want, and the “theme” is “Are you a STAR?” Define being a STAR: Do you talk to people everywhere you go? Do you make a commitment to ask three people per day to host a show, and then DO it? Or are you a CHICKEN? Define being a CHICKEN: Do you make plans and then chicken out? Tell everyone to keep the soup can next to the phone and look at it until the next meeting to decide if they are a chicken or a star.

Seasonal Themes – Christie Northrup

Christie Northrup is the number one authority on themes. Well-known for putting a sweet twist on sour situations, the Lemon Aid Lady, as she calls herself, has a wide variety of seasonal or unique team training themes. One of my favorite themes is the October meeting theme of “Them Bones” which is part of her theme training programs.

The objective is to have a fun Halloween theme and use it to illustrate that something is the back BONE of your business. The back BONE is the most important part of your body and the back bone of your business is the most important part of the business. I used to use this theme to talk about host coaching, which I believe truly is the back bone of the direct sales business. More themes from the Lemon Aid Lady.

Johnny Appleseed Meeting: Tell everyone to bring a package of seeds. This is another one of my favorite theme meetings. Is your team planting the seeds for the future? What we do in our business today will affect our business most in three months. Creating a theme and asking everyone to bring a package of their favorite seeds will generate curiosity and a meeting topic that is fun. Everyone will bring different kinds of seeds showing that we all run our business differently. Are you planting the seeds today so that you can reap the harvest down the road?

Creative Meeting Ideas Connect Team Members

Creating meetings that are unique and different every month will insure that your team sales consultants keep coming back. When a team connects at the meeting, they become more committed to their business because they are committed to friendships. Be creative with your meeting ideas and make every meeting different.

The Economy Is Perfect For Direct Sales Recruiting

August 1st, 2008 . by Deb Bixler

Recruiting For Network Marketing

Now is a perfect time to share your business opportunity with friends, family and strangers! The next time you are talking with a lead or potential recruit, don’t forget to share the income tax-reduction strategy.   Everyone is focused on financial issues. I cannot go anywhere without someone complaining about the economy. As a direct sales professional, we have a solution. Actually, we have two solutions to assist families in improving their financial situation. The economy is a terrific reason to start a home business! No household can survive on two incomes now, let alone one. Direct sales is an income-generating solution that will provide two more streams of income into the home without adding another wage-earner, or requiring a member of the family to get a second or third job.

Recruit With Tax Savings

Using the home business income tax-reduction strategy as a recruiting tool is powerful. With a direct sales business, home party or home business owners will generate income through their compensation plan, as well as through the ability to deduct expenses they are already paying for from their taxes. The home office deduction is a legal system of deducting part of your home expenses as business expenses. This creates additional cash flow in the home by reducing tax liabilities while generating income through commissions from the affiliate company.

Home Party Plan Businesses - Direct Sales Industry Trends

Home businesses are the wave of the future. The direct sales industry, network marketing, and home party plan sales businesses are the place to be now. The small business entrepreneur is the industry for the 21st century. When you share your opportunity as an income producing program as well as a tax-reduction strategy, you are creating a powerful recruiting tool.

Direct Selling Games

Games To Play At Home Party Plan Shows

The game of bingo for your home show party is a great way for the audience to get involved and also to increase your show average. When playing games at your shows, be sure that the game has a purpose for you…. more sales or create desire for shows or the opportunity to start a business… and also a purpose for the guest… fun!

This game gets people to start a list of the products that they would like to have someday. Any time you can start your customers on an action, it will most likely increase sales.  This is because one action creates momentum and leads to another action. It is similar to when you get the host, during host coaching, to start a list of who to invite — then you will not have as many cancellations because the action of creating a list of guests will lead to a call to invite them, and that will lead to the invitations going out. The act of creating a list of people to invite will generate action or start the ball rolling. The act of creating a list of what he or she wants to get may create momentum to start a list of who to invite. So at your show when you get your customers to start a list of what they want, you are putting the ball in motion for them to make purchases, become hosts, or even sign up to be a rep. The bingo game is designed to get the guests writing their wish list down.

A Game To Play At Direct Selling Parties - Bingo

Party Games The game of bingo is terrific to play at your shows. Here is how it works. On the back of the receipt, on a piece of paper, or whatever you choose to use, tell your guests to make a bingo card or two. They need to make a grid that is 5 X 5 spaces. You can have them make one or you can provide it.  Here is a blank bingo grid if you want to really get serious about this. Bingo Board Then explain how the game works. As the show goes on, they are to write down products they would like to get sometime or wish that they had. Ask them to write the product and the page number in one of the boxes for each product that they like throughout the show. The more on their bingo cards, the better chance they have of winning. Assure the guests that putting the products on the bingo card does not mean they have to buy it. Actually, the more bingo cards that they fill, the better the chance that they will win when we play bingo at the end of the show. So as you demonstrate and talk about products, guests write the wish list on their bingo card. The more products they have on their grid, the better chance that they will win. Remind them periodically so that they remember to play. At the end of the show, you will do a product wrap-up during the close. You can say, ”Ok we are just about done and so now turn your bingo cards over. Let’s play bingo for this product.” You do your wrap-up, doing a quick summary of each product, and they x it off on their bingo card as you do so. ‘This is the XX, no kitchen is complete without it, all hosts I ever did a show for had enough products to get the YYY for free, and the special ZZZ is perfect in every living room.’ You just keep talking about the products during the wrap-up and who ever gets bingo first wins your item. Finish the wrap-up, and take your orders. You can even check the back of the bingo cards as you tally your orders, as a way to cross or up sell. Or use a big wish list as leverage when asking about scheduling a show.

Games At Home Parties Must Create Value

The value in this direct sales game is that it creates desire for shows by creating a visual list for the guest as the show goes on. It gives them a way to remember what they were considering, informs you of their level of interest, and creates desire for hosting shows as well as the opportunity.  And it is fast-paced and fun. The value to the guest is that it is fast paced; keeping up with the show and not taking any extra time. If you cannot create a value for the guest with your show games, then you should not play games. Guests hate to be bored, so be sure that any game you play creates value for you - the sales consultant, for them - the party attendee, as well as for the host.

Think And Grow Rich: Napolean Hill - Direct Sales Inspiration

July 9th, 2008 . by Deb Bixler

Direct Sales Leaders Use “The Secret” & “Think And Grow Rich”

The book by Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich, is my business and personal guideline for life. I love it. One of the best-selling self-help books ever written, it hit the press during the Great Depression. With millions of people out of work and a war on the horizon, Napoleon Hill’s philosophy gave people hope and inspiration that life could get better. The philosophy of the book is the same information presented in the “The Secret” which is a popular book today. Direct sales leaders in all companies are putting the philosophy of The Secret into action in their businesses and using the concepts to achieve success. I love both books.

Law Of Attraction

Using the power of positive attraction, and living a life of gratitude as an inspiration for life is the key to success in any business. I just found this video of Napoleon Hill sharing about his philosophy in Think And Grow Rich on YouTube and thought I would post it here for all to enjoy.
